THE Gloucestershire Under-14s emerged victorious against Forest Hills Golf Club in their annual meeting with the County golfers.

Twenty-two players from the County Under-14s and the Partnership Academy teed off with a nine-hole greensome in the morning, before closely-fought singles matches in the afternoon.

Alan Graham, the team manager for county Under-14s said, "The link between the Under-14s and the academy is crucial as it allows young golfers to become available for county selection.

"We need to strengthen our ties with the academy even further, as there were some fantastically entertaining matches. Players from both sides were competing to the best of their ability.

"The Under-14s squad is strong this year, but they were made to work really hard for their victory. Five matches went down to the last hole"

Gloucestershire Junior Academy Head Coach, Jonathon Skuse said: "These meetings are crucial for the development of our young players.

"The Under-14s set a great example and hopefully our young academy players can follow them."
