Volunteers Make A Difference
Home-Start volunteers' visit families at home each week supporting parents in situations as diverse as isolation, bereavement, multiple births, illness, disability or who are just finding parenting a struggle. They provide non judgemental practical and emotional support and help build the family's confidence and ability to cope.
Home Start is looking for volunteers to offer support to families in the local Stroud District area. The only real qualification Home-Start volunteers need is experience of bringing up children. Friendliness and a caring attitude are essential as well as an understanding of the pressures of parenting. All volunteers participate in a preparation course which is accredited by the Open College Network. A new course is starting in April 2013 and will be held in Nailsworth. This is a great opportunity to use amazing skills learnt from being a parent to help others while gaining experience and accreditation towards a possible career working with families and children
