MPS in Gloucestershire are set to get a vote on whether to ditch the fox hunting ban.

It follows reports that agreement had been reached among the coalition partners on holding a parliamentary vote to lift the ban on the controversial pursuit. In their manifesto, the Conservatives had committed to introducing a "free vote" on repealing the ban.

It is understood MPs will get the opportunity later this year to vote on a parliamentary motion on holding a vote on the ban. It would only take place if a majority of MPs supported the motion.

With no single party having an overall majority, it is unclear if MPs would lift the ban.

Conservative MP for Gloucester Richard Graham said: "There's no fox hunting in Gloucester.

"It's simply not one of the city's issues and it's not one of my priorities to put this on the agenda. I don't have strong views on it."

Neil Carmichael, Conservative MP for Stroud, said: "I would be voting for its repeal because I think it's a question of individual liberty."

Cotswolds Tory MP Geoffrey Clifton-Brown said: "I will vote for lifting the ban because I don't think it's working properly at the moment."

“The following extract is from Clifford Pellow's submission to Lord Burns Hunting Inquiry.
""It was acceptable to cut the footpads of captured foxes, or dowse them in their own urine, before turning them loose, so giving the dogs a stronger scent to follow"”

“The following extract is from former huntsman of 23 years Clifford Burns submission to Lord Burns Hunting Inquiry.
"Trapped foxes were kept in milkchurns and in bone bins then on hunting day put into bags and dragged across fields - all so as to impress the followers whose donations kept the enterprise afloat."”

“The following extract is from former huntsman of 23 years Clifford Burns submission to Lord Burns Hunting Inquiry.
"Riding ahead of the huntsman, he saw what what he thought was a three legged fox. He reported what he'd seen, they gave chase and eventually found the animal hobbling in a hedgerow. The dogs killed him. Pellow's huntsman, 'a first class professional and first class man' - jumped off his horse to take a closer look and discovered that one of the foxes legs had been tied up behind his shoulder. Someone had hobbled him to ensure a straightforward kill"”

“The following extract is from former huntsman of 23 years Clifford Burns submission to Lord Burns Hunting Inquiry.
"At the Tredegar, my last hunt, we had a vixen go to ground. We just happened to come across her hiding, if you like. One of the bitches slipped away and started to mark the ground. The Master said "We haven't had a kill so we'll have this one" When we got to it, I said to the Master, "Whoops, vixen in cub Sir!" And he said "That don't matter, we'll still have her"

"We carried on digging but by now my blood is boiling, for this is against all etiquette. And now he said, "Don't bother to shoot it, just fire into the ground and we'll leave her to the hounds" But I couldn't, I did shoot her. I couldn't be bothered to go through the ritual either of holding her up. I just threw her and the hounds ripped her to pieces and as they ripped her, there were four little baby foxes, not yet with hair. They were naked, or bald, or call it what you like. And the Master went along and just screwed them into the ground with his feet"”

"I've seen an iron bar stuck right through the lower jaw of a fox. "Wheeer, you b******d', this one said to me, "The f***er won't get away now" And he literally had him pinned with an iron bar through his nose and jaw"”

“The following extract is from former huntsman of 23 years Clifford Burns submission to Lord Burns Hunting Inquiry. "They are aggressive because deep down they know what they are doing is wrong and they believe you will see something and report them. What's in it for them is that they get the fox in the end. It doesn't matter whether they throw it to the hounds, bash it on the head with a spade or stick an iron bar through it's guts. And I've seen it all."”

“Of course Clifton Brown would vote in favour of a repeal. He is one of the sick minority who derives pleasure from watching a creature that weighs little more than a house cat being torn to pieces by a pack of hounds. He believes that terriermen should have the right to dig a fox from it's earth and bag it, slash it's pawpads with a pocket knife, punch it repeatedly in the face to break it's lower jaw, douse it in urine and hamstring it before releasing it into a covert for the pack to find. He believes that this is more humane than employing the services of a skilled marksman. He's Geoffrey Clifton Brown. He knows more about animal welfare than IFAW, the RSPCA, Richard Edwards MSc MA VetMB MRCVS who all stated to the Burns Inquiry that hunting is ineffectual and inhumane.”
