Wagamama and Carluccio's keen on Gloucester Quays

TWO top restaurants have admitted they would "love" to open at Gloucester Quays.

Popular eateries Wagamama and Carluccio's have both left the door wide open to an approach from the Quays, with more restaurants expected to open there in the near future.

The two national giants have both expressed an interest in joining the development, which is soon to boast a new The Gym and a Cineworld cinema.

A spokesman from Wagamama, which sells Japanese and Asian food, said: "Unfortunately we cannot confirm any openings in Gloucester, however we are always looking for new sites and we would love to open there in the future if possible."

Meanwhile, a spokesman for Carluccio's, which serves authentic Italian food, said: "As far as we are aware, there are no opening plans in the pipeline for Gloucester but Carluccio's is constantly looking for good sites across the country, so it is not ruling out this opportunity at some point in the future."

Bosses at the Quays say talks are ongoing with a number of different companies.

A spokesman said: "Gloucester Quays is actively talking to a wide variety of restaurants and bar operators that will appeal both to the family market during the day and early evening to those premium brands that will offer a great evening out for drinks or food in the unique setting of the Docks.

"It's a bit early at this stage to confirm names, but quality brands like these are certainly on a priority list for us."

Meanwhile, two shops are opening their doors in the city centre today.

Pretzel shop Auntie Anne's is opening at The Eastgate Shopping Centre, while clothes store Internacionale is also opening after relocating within the centre to a bigger unit.

A spokesman for Auntie Anne's store said: "We look forward to offering the shoppers in The Eastgate a new food experience."

Internacionale retail operations director, Caraline Money, said: "The Eastgate Centre is a key shopping destination, so when the opportunity for a store in the Bell Walk area became available we jumped at the chance."

Jason Robinson, centre manager, said: "We've seen an influx of great stores wanting to open up in the city centre over the past 12 months."
