IF you're not a regular walker through Wallbridge, you may not have noticed this little waterside gem.
On a sunny day, the Lock Keeper's canal-side garden provides a little oasis, and a lovely spot for a coffee, cake or lunch.
It's only a short stroll from town to the Lock Keeper's Cafe Bar and my friend and I nipped down from work for a quick lunch break.
Inside the Lock Keeper's is also very pleasant, and I noted for future reference that there's also a comfy sofa and toy box if I return with my little children.

The lunch menu is simple.
There's a choice of paninis, flatbreads, wraps and sandwiches plus a vegetarian flan.
My friend and I decided to go half and half on a couple of paninis.
We shared a roasted vegetables, halloumi and red pesto panini served with a pot of humous (£6.40) and a stilton and mango panini (£5.40).
Both were excellent, although perhaps there was a smidgeon too much pesto which overwhelmed the halloumi a little. I'm a big halloumi fan, and I like it to shine through.
The stilton and mango panini was a rich, gooey treat which we both enjoyed. We shared a side salad between us, which was excellent; a plate of coleslaw, waldorf salad, cous cous and green salad (£3.80).
Service from a team of friendly staff was excellent, and it was a lovely, relaxed spot to escape our desks for a quick lunch. There were some fantastic looking homemade cakes on offer but my friend and I resisted the temptation, watching the clock and our waistlines.
And in any case, she said her yummy mocha was almost like a cake in a glass.
For my friend, discovering the Lock Keeper's was a revelation – she simply hadn't known it was there. But we both agreed it's worth seeking out, and returning to.
Not least to sample the cakes.
