A PROJECT to create an interactive history of Cheltenham traders is nearly complete.

Cheltenham Connect is setting up the website, which uses a map of the town to provide brief histories of each shop and provides a link to their websites.

The volunteer group, which was set up to help businesses in Tivoli, The Park, the Suffolks and Bath Road, hit problems in April when the company it had lined up to produce the map pulled out.

But the project is back on track and organisers say it should be ready soon.

A spokesman said: "We are in the process of building up the website and hope to have something to show everyone by the beginning of July.

"Among other things, you will be able to print off a copy of the historical walking trail leaflets that we are developing in conjunction with the St Philips and St James Area Residents' Association."
