Weekly health walks in Whaddon
KEEN walkers in Whaddon are being given the ideal opportunity to shed a few pounds and meet people at the same time.
Staff at the Oakley community resource centre in Clyde Crescent are holding free health walks every Wednesday at 10.30am.
The walks, which last between 20 and 40 minutes, take participants on a brisk jaunt through surrounding streets and parks.
A spokesman for the centre said: "Walking can have a huge number of benefits.
"It can be a good way of reducing the risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, stress and anxiety, as well as increasing confidence and a sense of well-being.
"It's also a great way to meet people."
Tea and coffee is available at the resource centre afterwards. For more information call 01242 516960.
