West End cast Russell up a musical treat

Following sell-out seasons in America, Australia, Canada and Japan the musical will be performed at the Everyman Theatre in Cheltenham from Monday.
Willy Russell's play centres on Mrs Johnstone, a young mother deserted by her husband and left to provide for her seven hungry children.

She takes a job as a housekeeper to make ends meet but it's not long before her world crashes around her when she discovers she is pregnant again.

It's a storyline which has scooped four awards for Best Musical in London and seven Tony Award nominations in Broadway.

Willy Russell is one of the country's leading dramatists, with credits that include Educating Rita and Shirley Valentine.
