Simpsons Fish and Chips in Cheltenham highly placed in UK competition
A FAMILY-RUN fish and chip shop has been named the best in England.
Simpsons Fish & Chips in Whaddon has scooped second place in the Independent Takeaway Fish and Chip Shop of the Year Award.
-

One of the owners James Ritchie with manager Mia Postlethwaite
First place went to a shop in Scotland, making the chippy in Priors Road number one in England. It is run by husband and wife James and Bonny Ritchie, both 26, and her parents Jan and Brian Simpson.
They picked up their award at a ceremony in London, following numerous inspections by experts. James said: "We are absolutely delighted. We are passionate about the business and about providing quality, so it's great to be recognised for it."

“Brockworth Fryer in Court Road gets my vote. They said I could have a free 'chippy tea' if I said that (as they say on Coronation Street)”

“I am a massive fan of Simpsons. They use quality and sustainable ingredients which I think is lost on your average Cheltonian.
My only criticism is that waiting times have got ridiculous if you visit on a Friday or Saturday evening.”

“They spend so much time promoting themselves, it's a wonder they have ANY time for customers at all.
This sort of business is NOT about bigging yourself up, and is open to negative comments.
The fact that other brilliant chippies even eke out an existence, is proof that they are pretty much run of the mill, and I doubt anyone travels that far for their fare.”

“I agree with Chelt_Jim - Charlies is best - but as raidermanuk, its a matter of taste. I wonder what who the LOCALS think is best?”
