Wide-loads will be passing through the Forest of Dean tomorrow.

Three large vehicles, carrying gantry frames for the motorway will be heading through Lydney up to Stroat, on Friday morning.

A spokesman for Gloucestershire Police traffic department said: “The abnormal loads or three vehicles about 3.5metres wide will be on the roads.

“They will start at Harbour Road in Lydney, head right on to Lydney Bypass, then turn left onto Highfield Road.

“Then they will go through Lydney back out to Aylburton and to Alvington before getting to Stroat from around 10am.

“We will be causing a bit of disruption but will minimise it to as much as we can.”

The gantry frames will then be going to Newport.

“What !!! the hell is this load going down into lydneys narrow streets, surely they can go round the roundabout at the top of harbour road the reverse way round and straight down the bypass, whats the point in having a bypass! I assume the gantry was built in Lydney.”

    “Good on you, Thomasisatank!
It's about time somebody spoke out about the toy train lot. Why have they so much sway over the Council and Highways Department that they can cross the bypass (a main A road after all),and cross the main street in Lydney. This rubbish about the DFR bringing money into the area through tourism is cobblers! Let's be honest, they probably bring a packed lunch, buy a few sweets or a souvenir at Norchard and then go home!
Send them up into the Forest!”

“Mabybliw - you may get to read this before the censors delete it for not being PC but the Irish are Welsh who learned to swim, the Welsh are Foresters who learned to walk and the Foresters, well, get into deep trouble talking about things like English with club feet!

As for the bridges they are owned by a consortium with a French majority, whose sensibilities are obviously offended so much they put a high toll on as a warning to the sensitive not to go THERE but mercifully do not charge to escape.

Please don't anyone take offence, just had a hard day and need a bit of light relief if anyone wants to reciprocate.”
