FORMER Scotland Under-17 international winger Ryan O'Hara has signed for Gloucester City.

The 20-year-old former Swindon Town, Dundee United and Gretna midfielder has joined the Tigers after being released by Blue Square Premier club Salisbury City.

With City short of cover for their first-choice wide men Lee Smith and Jack Harris, a new winger was the top priority for David Mehew.

"We needed some competition and support for both Jack Harris and Lee Smith and Ryan will give us that," said the City boss.

"He's from Swindon so he's reasonably local and he has a bit of pedigree having played for Scotland at youth level.

"He joined in with training on Tuesday, he looked sharp and put in a few good balls.

"Like Greg Lake and Lee Molyneaux, he has the chance to come here and earn a deal for next season.

"I will probably put him on the bench on Saturday but if Jack Harris doesn't make it I may throw him in from the start."

Harris is again struggling with injury and Jack Pitcher – the man who has filled in on the left flank – is also doubtful.

There is better news regarding Neil Mustoe, who is fit after picking up an ankle knock in last week's defeat to Alfreton, while both Lee Smith and Mike Symons should both be fit despite missing training on Tuesday through illness.

With the Blue Square North table looking ever more complicated with the expected demise of Farsley Celtic, Mehew knows the importance of getting a result against Vauxhall.

The club from Elsmere Port have only five games of their league season remaining and Mehew knows that a positive result for the Tigers will deliver a double blow.

"We have double the games that they have remaining, so if we get a positive result we can make things really hard for them," he said.

"They haven't got a great record and our form against the teams in and around us is quite good.

"Last week Farsley were just too good for us, and sometimes you have to say 'hands up there's not a lot we can do'.

"One of their strikers was unstoppable and if he had bought a lottery ticket after the game he would have won it, given the day he had."
