A WOMAN was taken to hospital after being hit by a car near a Cheltenham supermarket.

The pedestrian was struck by a silver Peugeot 206 in Collett's Drive, next to Tesco.

The vehicle was coming out of the petrol station onto the road and is understood to have been travelling slowly when the collision took place.

The woman was taken to Cheltenham General Hospital with head injuries, but they were not thought to be life threatening.

The incident took place at around 5.20pm on Tuesday evening.

The road was closed after the incident. The driver of the Peugeot, from Cheltenham, was breath tested and the results were negative.

Police said any witnesses can contact them on 101 quoting incident 329 of January 29.

    “There was a car on it's roof in St Stephens road yesterday at about 4pm Police and ambulance in attendance. That seemed to have escaped the notice of the Echo.”

    “I hope the lady makes a full recovery.

    Tesco need to seriously consider the lay out of the petrol station.
    Why they moved it I will never know!!!!!!!

    Ques form and often for no other reason, than the car driver in front, not realising that the pump hose will stretch to both sides of the car!!!!!

    Thus causing chaos and available pumps can not be seen!!!!!”
