Women's cricket league set up in the Cotswolds
The Cotswolds will be celebrating a cricketing first this summer: its first women's league.
Fairford, Bourton Vale, Kempsford, Langford, Slaughters United and Cirencester cricket clubs will take part in the inaugural Cotswold League competition in May.
The league is supported by the Cotswold District Cricket Association which is keen to encourage new players to get involved.
League liaison David Taylor said: "This is a unique opportunity for women - including teenage girls - to join one of these clubs and enjoy the thrill of playing a fun-packed sport.

"First-timers will be embraced by all the participating clubs because most teams comprise of women new to the game.
"It's an ideal time for novices to take the plunge and have a try but experienced players will be made welcome too."
Steve Silk, cricket development manager at the Gloucestershire Cricket Board: "It is fantastic to see the formation of a women's cricket league in the Cotswolds and we hope it is the first of many new competitions across the county.
"The league is a great opportunity for juniors to play adult cricket and for older people who may not have played for a while to get back into the game. The competition will support the growing number of women and girls playing the game in Gloucestershire and will cut down on travelling. I am sure it will be a great success."
The GCB is also hoping to increase the opportunities for girls by setting up outdoor secondary school competitions at under-13 and under-15 level for the first time this summer.
If you would like to join one of these six clubs but do not have their contact details, phone David Taylor on 07740 604309 or e-mail him at coach.cricket@hotmail.co.uk.
You can also contact Taylor if your club would like to form a women's team and join the Cotswold League or arrange some friendly matches to help get you started.
