Cheltenham was formally home to one of the very first stores in the company’s portfolio, which today boasts more than 300 shops nationwide.

Kevin Keaney, chief executive officer at The Works, said: “We have wanted to return to the town for some time, but have been waiting for the right location to become available – we’re delighted with the unit that we’ve secured on the High Street, which was formally a British Bookshops and Stationers Ltd branch.

“This year, we have added 10 branches to our UK network; the Cheltenham store allows us to further our position as a leading value retailer not only of books, but also of arts, crafts and gifts, providing low-cost buys for all of the family.

“Through providing this substantial investment to Cheltenham, we hope to cement our relationship with the community and help boost the town’s already thriving high street.”
