Young guns join forces with RAF to strengthen teamwork
GLOUCESTER Academy Under-18s have linked up with staff at RAF Brize Norton to help get their season off to a flying start.
The squad made up of this coming season's Under-16s, Under-17s and Under-18s spent three days in camp focusing on the mental physical and technical development of the players.
This was in preparation for the Under-18 Academies tournament on August 23, and the Under-18s league which begins in October.
The purpose of the camp included providing mental and physical challenges that the players had to overcome in teams in which the RAF's PTI division played a big part, taking the boys through their intense fitness programme and notorious high ropes course, showing the young Cherry and Whites the importance and power of teamwork.

The squad also benefited from a number of rugby sessions in which they looked to develop technical and tactical elements of their game with academy coaches Simon Lane and Geraint Davies, who were hugely positive about the experience.
Lane said: "We have a mixture of age groups within our Under-18s squad from various schools and clubs, and this has been a great life experience for them, as well as providing them with the opportunity to bond as a group.
"We realise how fortunate we are to be given this opportunity and they gave us a fantastic insight into life in the RAF, and we hope to further develop the link with the staff from Brize Norton throughout the course of the season.
"We have followed the path of the senior squad who have taken a huge amount from their experiences with the military in pre season, highlighting the value of teamwork and having an unquestionable work ethic.
"Six of the players from the Under-18 group were part of the senior squad training throughout pre season, and they have come back to the Under-18s group and lead from the front.
"There is no doubt that all of the players will benefit greatly from our time at Brize Norton and will reflect on it throughout this season and beyond."
