A 38-year-old man from Lower Slaughter who was driving the van was taken to Worcester Hospital.

His injuries are not considered life threatening and he's currently in a stable condition.

The road was closed for around six hours while police officers conducted their enquiries.

Gloucestershire Police are appealing for witness who they have not spoken to.

Anyone with information can contact police on 101, quoting incident number 304 of December 4.

“Yes. Half the battle is for people to be able to just say what happened and no more. At that time of day it will have gone almost dark, the sun perhaps just eeping over the hills to the west but thats what happens. It only distorts the issues trying to blame someone for it.”

“I cannot comment on what happened, and nobody should apportion any blame to driver or road surface until the police etc have done their investigations, but I think I am safe to say that if drivers observed the speed limit the roads would be a safer place.”

“Yes it does matter Zindafud especially to any of us that use the roads
Any accident is one too many and a fatality particularly.
These involve real people not some abstract in a book
Unless we start finding out the details rather than accepting it's another one, that's what happens we're not going to improve things.
Series of accidents last week on the A40. The B4077 a few weeks ago nearer Stow and now this.
    Thanks govenor1”

“Very sad. Safeandnice it looked to be slightly to the west of the Hobnails, but very close to the pub on the straight part of the road, from what I could see from accross the fields.”

“So 2 vehicles involved, traveling in opposite directions. Presumably one was therefore at least partly on the wrong side of the road, for them to collide? As to why, the accident investigation report will establish this in due course.

Another young life lost on the county's roads, and another family torn apart, 3 weeks before Christmas. RIP young man.”
