WEATHER warnings are in force across Gloucestershire as the county plunged into sub-zero temperatures overnight.

Gritters have been on the roads to combat the ice and police are warning motorists to drive carefully.

In Hardwicke, residents woke up this morning to temperatures of -4.5C, while in Hucclecote the mercury dropped as low as -2C.

Central Cheltenham was at -3C just before 7am, while Cirencester was equally as cold.

“Let the dog out this morning at Hardwicke. It was -5c. The bird feeder was nearly empty. Filled it,threw some suet pellets on the ground too.
By the time I'd got back to the door, well after the dog,the yard looked like that Hitchcock film.
Please don't forget our birds. Help them through with food scraps that are fatty, hold back on the bread, though.”
