Cheltenham Town: I am buzzing says five-goal Thomas
RED-hot Wesley Thomas says the key to his record-breaking goalscoring streak is confidence.
The Cheltenham Town striker has scored five goals in his first four appearances for the club since arriving from Dagenham and Redbridge for a nominal fee in the summer.

Buzzing: Wesley Thomas
Thomas is the first player to score in his first four Football League appearances for the Robins.
The 23-year-old sits joint top of the early League Two scoring charts with Adam Le Fondre, who scored four of his five goals against Cheltenham in Rotherham United's 6-4 victory.
Thomas' 80th minute header against Burton Albion on Saturday levelled the scores and Josh Low nodded in the winner two minutes later.
"I have never had a run as good as this before so I am buzzing," Thomas said.
"It's down to confidence. I am confident the team are going to provide me with chances and I am confident I can put them away when they fall to me.
"I had to wait 80 minutes on Saturday, but I was there at the right moment and when you are confident you put them away."
Cheltenham had to dig deep to defeat a well-drilled Burton side, who packed the midfield and snatched a first-half lead through Shaun Harrad.
Mark Yates' side did not match the silky football they produced in their previous home win over Crewe, but Thomas described the Burton result as more satisfying.
"You can't win pretty every week and I enjoyed this one more," he said.
"We have come back to win with late goals and it showed the spirit we have."
All of Thomas' goals this season have been from close range, but he says he is capable of netting more than just tap-ins.
"People might be looking at my goals and just think I am a poacher, but I have a lot more to my game than just scoring those kind of goals," he said.
"Obviously I am pleased with any goal, no matter how they come, but I want to show I can score goals of all kinds and from all positions."
Thomas has a reputation among his team mates as a very laid back character, but he says he puts that trait to one side when he takes to the field of play.
"I am laid back off the pitch, but when it comes to matches I am not laid back," he said.
"I try my best, close down players and work hard and I think that is one of the reasons I have got five goals in four games.
"I am new to the team so I want to score goals and get the fans behind me and hopefully I can keep doing that."
Thomas is thriving on his first big chance in the Football League after struggling to break into Dagenham and Redbridge's team in two years with the Essex club.
"I just wanted a chance in the League and didn't think I was going to get that at Dagenham," he said.
"This is a chance for me to show what I am all about."

“i think we all miss mavis more than we would care to admit to. without him there seems to be a real lack of pace, plus the cover he provides when elliott and andrew get caught out. we were a bit shocked, but delighted to see him back on saturday, but there was that doubt in our minds whether he could last the 90 or not!!! pity he couldnt even make it to 19. he can be a key player for us this year, its just that weston and yates need to be firm with him, because im sure martin would have said to them that he was ready!! clearly he wasnt.”

“Cheers ricco - I too thought that Brown's 2nd half saves couldn't have been done by most league 2 keepers - they were a cut above the norm. When any keeper makes a mistake, be it Brown, Reina, Almunia or Cech, then the ball will usually end up in the back of the 'net - that's a keepers life.
Also, I hope that the defence won't miss Riley's bsence too much + that the others can tighten up the upcoming matches + give more protection to Brown.”

“dont worry richardIII, im here defending brown as well. he might have done better with the goal, but if you look closely, you will see the ball dipped and swerved wickedly just before it reached him. there are those who are saying he is expected to save shots, but those saves late on wernt just routine, they were outstanding, match winning saves, but would you expect EVERY league 2 goalie to save those? no i wouldnt either. scott brown needs our backing right now, because im sure he'll get the backing from mark yates when he is the first name on the team sheet come saturday. WELL DONE BROWNIE.”

“Regarding Riley - Big shame to see him go off again on Sat - apparently it was the same hamstring he injured against Crewe. I thought he was going to be miss the Burton game, so I was very surprised to see him named in the team - I guess it was too soon for a comeback. I hope the injury clears up completely as I reckon Riley is our best defender. It would be a shame if his injuries kept occurring like Duff's did -what is it with Chelt + central defenders? I'm beginning to think that position is cursed for Chelt!
Anyway, hope to see Riley back soon as we do look a little ponderous sometimes at the back against the quicker players in League 2when he's not in the side - all the best for a speedy (but proper) recovery Martin!”
