The game was won 3-1, with some excellent tennis being played by the likes of Sam Neil and Ben Minnican who both shone with their fluent and powerful ground strokes.

Next came the Year 9/10 boys tennis team, who played Katharine Lady Berkeley School in their district final.

This was a tense and thrilling affair, with the match locked at 2-2 and two tie breaks and one rubber still left in the balance to decide the overall winner.

Tommy McInerney and Luke Jones had the responsibility of trying to win the one remaining open game to take the Championship.

Poised at 5-5, the boys finally broke away to take the match 7-5 and with it the title 3-2.

The game was played in the pouring rain which made it even more impressive.

Glenn Price, head of PE at Thomas Keble, said: "The school has seen amazing success in a number of sports over the last few years and our total commitment to driving sport forward in the local community as well as within the school is paying huge rewards at all levels.

"We hope to see even more success over the next couple of years and are over the moon with the attitude and effort levels of all these pupils."
