Unexploded mortar found in the Cotswolds

A bomb disposal unit was called to the Cotswolds this morning after an unexploded mortar was discovered.

Police called in a bomb disposal unit after a resident reported discovering what he thought was an unexploded mortar bomb in a field near his home in Shipton Oliffe.

Officers received a call at approximately 7.30am from the Shipton Oliffe resident who had found the 2” explosive yesterday evening.

The bomb disposal unit have been called to safely remove and dispose of the item.

Police urge anyone who finds a similar item not to touch the object and to contact them immediately on 0845 090 1234.
