Known for its sharp suits and quality coats, Paul Costelloe is usually seen as a concession in the likes of House of Fraser.

But a company spokesman said they had long been eyeing Gloucester and were keen to branch out.

Kate Berwin, marketing director for the fashion house, said: "It will be our first ever outlet store in the UK.

"We've spent quite a lot of time looking at the area and at the shopping centre, and thought it was a fantastic opportunity. There are already some great brands there."

Mr Costelloe added: "I am really excited to be a part of the Gloucester Quays development and for the Paul Costelloe brand to be expanding in time for the New Year.

"I look forward to opening the store in person on Saturday and welcoming shoppers who are looking for beautiful menswear and a great shopping experience."

The store's arrival comes in the middle of a successful few weeks for the Quays.

Sports brand Asics will finally open its new store there on December 19 and will bring with it its own premium sportswear label Onitsuka Tiger too. Eaterie Nando's has revealed plans to expand its restaurant by an extra 50 per cent. The new openings, and Nando's expansion, will create up to 50 new full and part-time jobs.

Adrian Wright, leasing director for the Quays, said: "These top names joining our retail portfolio are yet further proof that leading brands view Gloucester Quays as a major shopper destination for the South West.

"We've had a phenomenal year, welcoming 2.3million visitors by the close of 2012 – an increase of 12 per cent on the previous year."

Meanwhile, shop fitters have been busting a gut to sort out the newest addition to Gloucester city centre.

Patisserie Valerie is rapidly taking shape in the old Millets shop in Southgate Street.

“The headline says Paul Costelloe is opening at The Quays, the picture is of the new shop in Southgate St. which is also mentioned. Perhaps the readers should read it properly.”

everone in Gloucester knows that THAT picture is of (as described) the Old MILLETS store, but it's at the corner of SOUTHGATE STREET[smack bang in the centre of GLOZZER] and not as suggested by the headline... in the Quays.”
