Scaling new heights

Thursday, February 19, 2009, 08:00

Thrill-seekers will be able to scale new heights with the construction of a 13m climbing wall at Beechenhurst.

The new adventure tower opens on April 4 and features 24 different climbing routes and two vertical abseils.

The wooden tower has been created by Matthew Ralphs who built and runs the Motiva Ropes Course at Christchurch.

"We hope the tower will complement the other activities in the Forest," said Matt, who lives in Lydbrook.

"The location is brilliant but we thought there wasn't any activities here for older children and adults. The great thing about the tower is you can just turn up and have a go."

The climbing wall will be manned by qualified staff and is suited to children aged from six right up to adults, with routes of varying difficulty.
