Recycling is top of the agenda for half-term events in the Forest of Dean.

The Dean Heritage Centre near Soudley is putting on Make Do and Mend fun, including paper weaving, peg doll making and rug making until Sunday February 22.

Visitor manager Janine Downes said: “This has really captured people’s imaginations. With everyone “going green” and trying to reduce their carbon footprint, it seems that visitors young and old are keen to learn about an old fashioned way of life when people made do with what they had.

“Everyone who has joined in was keen to learn new skills and will hopefully take something home with them that they can share with the family.”

More than 300 people joined in the Make Do and Mend fun last  weekend and visitors can try the recycling events and learn more about how the Victorians recycled from 10am to 4pm each day.
