“Not just me, then. Had same issues with error messages when submitting comments, but then found the comments were posted anyway (despite the error message stating they hadn't been).
There seems to be gremlins on this website most days, to varying degrees. Another recent refresh of the site, but basic teething issues continue. Rather that tarting up the look of the site again, how about getting it to work properly, day in day out?”

“Plenty of duplicate comments being posted today, too. So TiG haven't managed to sort out whatever the problem is.
Question - are TiG not aware there is a problem, or do they know but can't get it fixed, or do they just not care...?
If TiG do know, why don't they delete the duplicate postings?”

“Ysedra - to make them redundant, they'd need to have been employed first... Given how long it takes TiG to sort out issues, my suspicions are they pop up to the Job Centre and advertise for tech support, as & when required... It then gets fixed when they find somebody looking for a few hours' work.
The site seems to be acting up even more today. Can't decide if it's amusing that TiG don't seem to realize / care, or whether it's becoming increasingly infuriating.”

“Just had a a notification that someone has commented here. I see nothing.
Perhaps it will appear later when this terrible web site decides to actually show it.
In this day and age there is no excuse at all for these technical failings, and for the paper to ignore it's readers views is a death knell. How about some answers from TIG?”

“Hello TiG, are you there?
It's apparent that the issues with comments being posted more than once after their writers get an error message saying it hasn't been posted (but in reality has) continue this morning.
When are you a) going to realize this, and then b) fix the gremlins which are generating apparently-unnecessary error messages?????”

“TiG is broken again. I've tried posting this on the Sue Oppenheimer story four times now...
So, just to re-cap (and people will correct me on the details, I'm sure), the previous administration at the county council, Labour with the support of the Lib Dems, proposed an MBT scheme, which the Conservatives opposed on anti-incineration grounds. Then, when the Tories gained control of the council, they threw open waste strategy planning to consideration of all options, and the eventual solution just happened to be the incineration strategy they were dead set against before.
Presumably, then, the Conservatives are prepared to admit that they changed their minds on the reasons for rejecting the earlier proposal, and support it in principle now. To get around the 'commercial sensitivity' problem, why not get cross-party agreement on the smaller, less obtrusive MBT plant, with the technical details about off-loadign the fuel, etc, already sorted out in principal before any company gets within sniffing distance of making an offer, and then they can keep their sensitivities to themselves, or at least I'd trust a (again, cross-party) committee to deal with those sensitivities, provided that broadly, the right choice had already been specified.”
“Continuing technical problems with this site
Today I tried to coment an an article and got 3 errors "object not supported" but eventually it accepted the coment and then posted 4, not 1
Also it is a waste of time selecting Gloucester news, or Cheltenham news as either choice produces news stories from everywhere. This is very poor. Can't someone get this fixed ?”
