“if you want to see an incinerator in operation go to jersey in the channel islands.
lovely and clean, provides electricity ,and best of all, no smells, and no seagulls.
the paths and walkways are clean, no seagull mess, you can sit by the beach and enjoy it.
Gloucester is overrun with fat seagulls that feed off the nearby tip, and endless fast food outlets.
lets start to clean the place up!!!!”

“The county council aren't wasting money on debate. Neither are their opponents, or at least, you couldn't call what they're doing with donations a debate...”

“I'm all for cleaning the place up but not for burying our rubbish in the Sky.
The project/problem needs a great deal more debate but GCC has painted itself into a corner by awarding the contract before planning permission has been granted.By GCC,oddly enough. How democratic is that?
Debate is now what GCC is tryng to avoid as they could be sued by the contractor for tens of millions if the deal goes South due to GCC's ineptitude.
p.s.The Seagulls are there because of GCC's inabilty to think outside the box. Logic is their weak point.”

“cushtymann - you don't need to go to Jersey - just go to Portsmouth or Southampton - clean and efficient waste to energy plants set close to local business, and industries, and housing estates.

Yes, GlosCC has been sitting on its Bum too long - since 2005 to be exact - and the world has moved on - in the mean time it has spent huge sums paying consultants for meaningless reports, and public consultations which don't amount to a can of beans, encouraged the district councils to implement costly and environmentally second rate recycling collections and in-vessel composting systems which in the end makes the case for an incinerator even less robust compared with the single bin collection, central mechanical sorting to remove marketable materials and sending the rest to a waste to energy plant. That would have made financial, and environmental sense.

What a waste of Tax-Payers' money!”
