“A couple of weeks ago I took the bus down to the City centre for a doctors appointment. I found I'd got the time wrong by an hour so to kill the next hour I had a walk around the City and took some photographs.
Yes, there's some grotty bits but put your eyes up and see the history in the city. The old buildings that still exist above the rubbish shopfronts, the Cathedral area, the Tailor of Gloucesters little house and the archway which is shown in the book. Take a walk down some of the alleyways, visit the folk museum and the city museum and library. The docks are looking terrific, although I was one of the most critical when bits of them were going up I've been totally won over.
I'm not originally from Gloucester but I've been here for 41 years and it's a beautiful City. However I would agree that some shops really let us down.”
