The classic fairy tale of Sleeping Beauty, to Tchaikovsky’s magnificent traditional score, is combined with stunning Petipa choreography and exquisite costumes, to portray the struggle between good and evil. Incensed at being snubbed at the christening of Princess Aurora, the wicked fairy Carabosse lays a curse on the young princess, proclaiming that she will one day pierce her finger and die. With the intervention of the Lilac Fairy the entire palace instead falls into a deep sleep and, a century later, Prince Florimund overcomes the dreadful obstacles to awaken the sleeping princess with a kiss. Performed by Vienna Festival Ballet’s troupe of elegant young dancers, this timeless tale of love is sure to enchant and enthral ballet enthusiasts of all ages.
