Cinderford Town 2

THIS was Town's seventh league defeat out of seven, but new boss Paul Weeks insists the club has 'turned the corner'.

He said: "It's easy for people to look at the result and be critical, but I thought the performance was fantastic. Every player contributed something.

"We conceded two penalties and all of their goals came from individual mistakes, but we had seven new faces out there.

"I've brought good individuals in, but we're not yet a team."

John Lock made his first start in defence after switching from Almondsbury, while Sam O'Sullivan partnered Richard Kear in attack. Lee O'Connor made his debut in midfield.

Welsh schoolboy international O'Sullivan has joined the club from Carmarthen Town, while O'Connor previously played for Croesyceiliog.

Town were 3-0 down by half-time, courtesy of two Davis penalties and a third goal from Bennett.

Chris Hartland and Lee O'Connor found the net for the Foresters in the second period, with Bennett grabbing his second for the hosts.

Weeks added: "I'm massively upbeat. Twenty-two players travelled to Gosport all wearing shirts and ties. We're improving on and off the pitch.

"We had more shots on goal than them and won more corners. Our luck will change.

"I came away feeling quite pleased even though we had lost. I will get this club out of trouble."
