JAMES Brewer has been called up to represent Great Britain at the World Indoor Championships in Istanbul next month.

The Cheltenham and County Harrier, who has not appeared in a Great Britain vest for two-and-a-half years, has been named in a 39-strong team for the trip to Turkey between March 9-11.

Selection to the squad marks the end of a two-year injury nightmare for the 2009 Gloucestershire Media Sports Personality of the Year.

Injured shortly after narrowly missing out on the 2009 World Championships in Berlin, Brewer has struggled for form and fitness.

But after some solid early-season performances, the 23-year-old gave a spirited showing at last week's British Indoor Championships and trials.

Leading for much of the last lap, Brewer was eventually edged into second place by Lewis Moses, before securing qualification with a superb run at the Birmingham Grand Prix on Saturday.
