The family of Tim Jennings have paid tribute to a "kind and generous son, brother and friend".

They said the tragic death of the 25-year-old, following a serious assault in Cirencester on June 27, has prompted a huge outpouring of support from the community.

Parents Mark and Kim, brother Chris, 23, and sisters Elizabeth, 21, and Katherine, 17, said they had been overwhelmed by the number of best wishes they had received.

Mark said: "Our house is absolutely filled with flowers and we've had more than 300 cards from people wanting to tell us how much they loved Tim and to share their stories about him."

The family has also pledged to work with police to highlight the dangers of excess drinking so their son's death will help others.

Born on March 4, 1984, at Cirencester Hospital, Tim was the first baby to be born there for two years.

Kim said: "There was only myself and one other new mum in the hospital when Tim was born and I remember the nurses doting on him."

The family lived in Eastleach for 16 years before moving to Bibury.

Kim said: "Tim was well known and loved in Eastleach when we lived at the Victoria Inn, and when he was young he used to cycle around on his bike and was always making new friends."

Tim went to Hatherop CofE Primary School followed by Farmor's Secondary School.

He then trained as a chef at Cheltenham College, on a work placement training under chef Sean Naeen at the Swan Hotel in Bibury.

He worked there for three years before moving on to work in sales for New Wave Seafoods followed by a role as a sales manager for West Country Fine Foods.

After the company went into administration, Tim was snapped up in just three days to work as sales manager for Ritter Courivaud Ltd, who expressed their high expectations for Tim.

Dad Mark said: "Our son Timbo was an incredibly generous man and would often walk in with pork pies, Kim's favourite, or flowers for her.

"The sheer number of cards and best wishes we've had since his death has been so touching.

"We are just overwhelmed by the support we've had, it's lovely to know that so many other people loved and cared for him too.

"Timbo was very sociable, and loved to go out with his friends, especially to the Catherine Wheel in Bibury, and we're heartbroken that he died following a night out.

"We are incredibly grateful for everything that Gloucestershire police do and have done, and we're hoping to work with them over the coming months to help make Cirencester a safer place by encouraging young people and parents to be aware of personal safety when it comes to drinking. By doing this we hope that some good can come from Tim's death."

Mark also thanked police family liaison officer Detective Constable Jacqui Camp for her kindness and continuing support as well as Cheltenham General Hospital staff, particularly GiGi and Dave who took Tim to Frenchay Hospital, Bristol.

Tim died on Thursday, July 2, at Frenchay Hospital.

A date for the funeral has yet to be set.

Two 18-year-old men have been charged with manslaughter and remanded in custody.
