"We're gritting the rain, we're gritting in the rain"
December 15th 2012
I cannot believe that the gritters were out last night gritting in the rain and at 5 degrees, on no weather forecast was there mention of frost, the only weather warning was floods. This has already happened several times this year. It must be very demoralising for the men giving up their valueble time knowing it is an utter waste of time. The people who are responsible for sending them out should be questioned as to their reasoning behind it. If the weather gets really bad and stocks run low they seem surprised - think hey ought to look back and see how much salt has been wasted on pointless runs.

“They were out and about - i know because i am a partner of a gritter - didnt go out last night even though temperature was one degree lower and they could be out again tonight waiting for an update - so it will be "we're gritting in the rain again"”

“I agree! Why oh why were they sent out to grit roads last night?
I looked at my outside temperature device and it showed +7.5c and it was raining!
The grit was being washed away immediately.
What a complete and utter waste of tax payer money. Whoever ordered those drivers to grit roads in those conditions should be disciplined severely.”
