A NEW report claims a lack of positive role models is driving young people to join gangs, a new report suggests.

The survey, from The Prince's Trust, found that one in three young people do not think of their parents as people they respect.

More than half of the teenagers surveyed named their friends or peers as role models, rather than family members.

But are there positive role models in the public eye? Or should young people always turn to their parents for guidance?

Should celebrities ever be role models for young people, or is popular culture responsible for the perceived problems with young people?
