Six homes in Brockworth blocked by planning inspector
ANTI-DEVELOPMENT campaigners in Brockworth are celebrating a mini victory after Tewkesbury Borough Council's decision to block new homes in Court Road was upheld by a planning inspector.
Connaught Land had appealed against a council decision not to allow a development of six new homes, 10 parking spaces and traffic calming measures.
But their hopes of a turnaround were dashed when an inspector agreed the benefits of the development would not outweigh the harm to the setting, an area home to several listed buildings.
The decision has delighted the parish council, which had its hopes of stopping a 220-home development by Invista Textiles Ltd on land at Green Street dashed after a similar planning appeal earlier this month.

Jim Hunt, Brockworth Parish Council chairman, said it was a relief the decision was upheld.
"Of course some people wanted these houses built but the majority of people in Brockworth have had enough of development," he said.
"The plans were only for six homes but they would have ruined the view from the church to Brockworth Court. We try to restrict development in Brockworth as best we can, but it is not easy.
"It seems because there is so much empty space in Brockworth, developers see the area as an easy target for new homes.
"There are big developments planned for the Invista site and Kennel Lane so enough is enough."
The site opposite Courtwright House is close to heritage asset buildings the Church of St George, a Grade I listed building, Brockworth Court, a Grade II listed building and a Tithe Barn, listed Grade II.
The group is referred to by English Heritage as the Brockworth Court manorial complex.
