No improvements to 'nightmare' A40 stretch
HIGHWAYS bosses have said there's no need to reconfigure a "nightmare" stretch of the A40 after complaints about rush-hour tailbacks.
Civic leaders in Cinderford have called for the stretch from Highnam to Over to be improved, including opening up the left lane past Highnam Court and preventing oncoming traffic turning right to Newent.
A Highways Agency spokesman said: "We carried out a study a few years ago to see if the lane reduction at this point affects traffic flows on this section of the A40, it does not.
"We continue to monitor the performance of the A40, as we do with all of our roads."
