Ruth Folkard, who helps to run the band, said: "We are desperately looking to recruit new players.

"Since the cuts in music teachers at state schools, the playing of instruments among young people has taken a hit.

"We want to get people involved in our band.

"We welcome all levels of players from complete beginners upwards and it can be a very rewarding experience."

Matthew Collyer, 17, has been part of the band for the past nine years.

"It has a friendly atmosphere and is a great environment for players of all levels," he said.

Sunday's concert starts at 7pm. To book tickets, call the theatre on 01242 522852.
