1.43pm - Moreton Show scaled down after bad weather

Friday, September 05, 2008, 14:00

THE wet weather has forced tomorrow's Moreton Show to be scaled down.

Heavy rainfall has led to organisers reducing the size of what is normally the county's leading annual agricultural show.

Horses, cattle, sheep, goats and hounds will still be displayed and the grand arena programme will go ahead but there will only be a few trade stands and limited catering.

The dog show has been cancelled as have the home and garden section except children's classes, table-based handicrafts and cakes which will be held in the Redesdale Hall.

There will be no flowers or vegetables.

Show spokesman Tim Gardner said: "It is very disappointing but there is still the core of it there."

Admission and parking will be free of charge but show officials say wellies and waterproofs are recommended.
