The first picture has emerged of Simon Pegg boldly going where no Brockworth man has gone before in his new Hollywood role.

The 38-year-old comedy actor is starring in the latest Star Trek movie due out next year.

Playing Captain Kirk's engineer Scotty, he features alongside a crop of young talent who portray the Starship Enterprise's first mission.

The £75million extravaganza is the 11th movie adaptation of the classic 1970s TV series.

Directed by JJ Abrahms, creator of Lost, it's due out next May and stars Chris Pine as Kirk as a cadet and Zachary Quinto, of Heroes fame, playing the young Spock.

Leonard Nimoy is the only member of the original cast to appear – as Spock Snr.

Pegg is currently the golden boy in Hollywood having appeared in a string of films including How to Lose Friends and Alienate People , Run, Fatboy, Run , and Hot Fuzz .

And his latest outing is a long way away from his days at Brockworth Enterprise School.
