My life in Gloucestershire: Chief Constable Mick Matthews
What's your favourite Gloucestershire day out?
I am still exploring the many things the county has to offer, but a favourite is Slimbridge. I enjoy the wildlife in a beautiful setting and it's great for keeping my grand-daughter occupied!

What's the worst job you've ever had?
Long before I joined the police, I was a butcher's boy and this entailed making pet food with entrails and offal.
Have you any unusual habits?
My wife would probably mention a few but I cannot think of anything particularly unusual – I won't eat rabbit or venison because I connect it to the wildlife in the county.
Who is your hero and why?
Sir Richard Branson, because he is probably one of the UK's greatest entrepreneurs. He is a fantastic business role model, an innovative and creative individual who is passionate about whatever he takes on and is prepared to fight his competition. He also discovered and signed some of my favourite bands.
What book are you reading at the moment or tell us your favourite?
I am reading Last Chance to See by Mark Carwarden about six of the rarest creatures that are likely soon to be extinct.
What was the last film you watched?
My wife and I are regular cinema fans. Last film we watched was Batman: The Dark Knight Rises.
First record you ever bought?
I was only five, but it was a tune called Tokyo Melody and was the theme for the 1964 Olympics. I think I still have the original vinyl.
Facebook or Twitter?
I am on twitter as the Chief Constable @ChiefGlosPolice
