We're loving our new classrooms
EXCITEMENT was in the air as pupils spent their first day in new classrooms at a city primary school.
The £8million rebuild of St Peter's Catholic Primary School was completed earlier this month after more than a year of building work.
And yesterday, the 423 pupils at the school were shown into the state-of-the-art buildings for the first time.
Headteacher Carol Barton said the atmosphere was buzzing.
She said: "It was all incredibly exciting. The children were skipping down the pathway, they were so excited about it and they couldn't wait to get into their new classrooms."
She said the work had involved a complete rebuild of the site in Horton Road.
She said: "It was about 14 months of work. "So we were in the old building until February 3, then the school was closed for a week to move everything from the old buildings to the new ones."
Children were invited to bring cameras into school to record the last day at their old school and first day in the 14 new classrooms.
