ALLEN Miller has more reason than most to be glad Cheltenham now has the best CT scanner on offer.
The 61-year-old will be the first cardiac patient in Gloucestershire to be scanned by the £1 million machine today.

He got to have a sneak preview of the kit at a special unveiling ceremony yesterday.
The Lansdown resident said: "I had some problems a couple of months ago with palpitations and high blood pressure and it was deemed a good idea to have a scan just to double check.

"It's precautionary more than anything, I hope.
"I think it's very fortunate we have got the scanner here.
"As I understand it, the sort of thing they are looking for with me is much more difficult with the older slower one."
The new machine can scan an entire heart in 0.35 seconds, whereas it previously took 12 seconds and was more complicated.
Mr Miller's wife Jenny works as a volunteer speaker for charity Cobalt and has been telling groups about the benefits of the new scanner for the past year.
She had no idea her husband would use it.
"I was saying in my talks there will be people you and I know who will benefit from this and then suddenly Allen comes home and says the consultant says he should have a CT scan," she said.
"It was a surprise. I'm delighted he is going to benefit from this equipment."
