Graham (MP)
Honourable Guests; Eric
Wood Mason (GCB) and Andy Russle (GCCL)
Ahmed Ginwala (Club`s
Secretary) Well come all the guests and introduce the Chief guests to all the
community. 147 peoples attend the AGM held at Al Ashraf girl's primary school
Gloucester.
AGM started with verses
of Quran by Hafiz molana Ismail Khuwadia
Raja (club`s Chief
Executive) did the presentation where he welcomed all the guests from both
communities (Indian and Pakistanis). During his presentation following points
were highlighted,
1: Clubs merge was
actually a merger of two nations. That shows there is unity in Gloucester among
ethnic minorities. Gloucester Pakistanis Cc were winning their divisions for
last six years in a row and so do Walls Crescent Cc was doing their best and
was playing in Division two of the Gloucestershire County Cricket League. In
year 2011 both clubs were struggling due to player shortages and
administrations. Both clubs committees talked about merger to bring strong team
for the competition. End of season 2011 both clubs finally merged as Gloucester
Crescent Pakistanis cricket club.
2: Club had serious
problems regarding ground availabilities as Club has two teams now and required
a ground where both teams can play. GCB was involved to search the ground and
Eric Woodmason (GCB) did work really hard to negotiate with trustee of old Debenhams
ground. Club received keys and access to the ground just 3 weeks before the
season. There was a huge task to prepare the wicket square and the pavilion
where no games were played for three years. To sort out all, clubs was finding
very hard to face financial issues. All players were so keen to play and their
loyalty shown through their contributions towards the cost and efforts to
maintain the ground.
3: Raja appreciated the
whole club who worked really hard to maintain the ground when clubs grass cutting
machinery broke down.He also mentioned few individuals who were working upto
8/10 hours at the pavilion to repair the burst pipes and polishing the floor to
get it ready for the club`s visiting teams. All the peoples who were involved
to help the club were praised.
4: It was told to the
audience that this was the first time in Gloucester`s history that two
different nationalities (Indian and Pakistanis) were sitting together under one
roof. This was the historical moment for all the Asian communities.
5: Talking about clubs
achievements, Raja said proudly that club won three championships in their very
first year of merger. Club won Gloucester District Indoor championship,
Organised by Gloucester Cricket Board. Club won division 3 of Gloucestershire
County Cricket League. Club also won Division 1 Evening cricket league after
beating their rival AIW cc.
Club also has shining
star AAmir Raju who inspired the whole GCCL teams for winning his 7th
best bowler award of the season.
6: Talking about club`s
future Raja did mention that from next year they are introducing youth cricket
club and working closely with the community to improve.......
Andy Russle (GCCL
Secretary) was invited to have few words where he admired the clubs efforts to
maintain GCCL`s standards in worse circumstances. He also congratulates the
club for their best performance during the last season.
Eric Woodmason (GCB)
congratulate club for their best performance and results they achieved within
one year of merger. Eric pleased to see two teams helping each other as a club
and making perfect platform for the youth in the community.
Richard Graham (MP) was
astonished to see both communities sitting together first time in Gloucester`s
history. He called it the younger generation`s biggest achievement for the
year. He told audiences how he was involved playing a cricket match against GCP
when he was representing city wingate cc. He appreciate the efforts GCP is
making to develop cricket into the community and providing solid plate form for
the coming generations
He wishes good luck for
the club and said that he is very sure to see similar results by end of next
cricket season by the club.
Richard presented
trophies to the club`s .

“I don't know what it takes to be allowed to publish an article on TiG, but you'd think that some kind of tutorial would be provided, so it doesn't come out looking like a dog's dinner.
Mind, it looks like minutes transcribed directly to the page...”
