Jones-Parry wins Deer Park challenge
Riders tackled a showjumping track before going out on the cross-country course, which made good use of Deer Park's natural features and sweeping scenery.
The winner finally emerged as Jones-Parry, based at Jill Carenza's Cotswolds Riding School at Stanton, who received her mare Aoife as a 50th birthday present five years ago.
"My husband David brought her for me and I've produced her with help from Jill, who has made us what we are," said Jones-Parry.
"The cross-country course was a varied, challenging one at Deer Park and very good fun."
Victoria Moore sped through the cross-country timed section to head the 2ft 9in Over 14.2hh class on her three-quarters Arab chestnut mare Fancy.
"She not what many consider a typical chestnut mare at all – she's very willing, reliable and honest," said Moore.
St Edward's School (Cheltenham) pupils Emily Shea and Maddy Cantrill took the top two spots in the 2ft 9in Under 14.2hh class.
Shea rode the grey pony Sam, passed down from older sister Alice and a family stalwart who is on a variety of Cotswold Vale Pony Club teams.
Cantrill, 12 and granddaughter of Deer Park owner Brian Babbage, rode Lamiabellezza.
Babbage paid tribute to the volunteers that make every event possible, saying: "Nothing could happen without them."
