Man attacked in Cotswolds chippy

A MAN ended up in a river after being attacked in the Cotswolds.

The 42-year-old claims he was assaulted in a fish and chip in Bourton High Street, Bourton-on-the-Water.

Then, as he left the shop, he says he was pushed into the river and hit again, suffering a cut to his lip.

Police were called to the scene at 7.45pm on Saturday.

Officers also received reports two men had been causing a disturbance on the Green.

Two men, a 19-year-old and a 21-year-old were arrested on suspicion of affray and the 21-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of assault of a police officer and criminal damage.

Both have been bailed to return to the police station on March 8.

Investigating officers are appealing to anyone who was in Bourton town centre between 7.30pm and 9.30pm who may have information.
