“Thought the attendance ould be pathetic last night and so it proved - 2,100!! Just imgine if Chelt were involved in a relegation scrap to stay in the league (I still think many Glos footy folk still think this is the case!!), then we would've been lucky to get 1,000 thru the gates.

Anyway, rant over, last nite' match shoud've been much more comfortable than it was. With 5 in midfield against only an OK mid-table side, we should've put to bed early. However, the once bowling-ground smoothness of the WR pitch has been replaced by a muddy, sandy mess - thanks Glos City!! As well as paying up your owed rent + other monies, if you are ground-sharing next season, you need to cough up some dough to try and restore the once-beautiful WR pitch - no wonder MY wants out of the grounsdshare deal - the pitch has shockingly deterorated since New Year.

Thought Deering started well, but as the rest of the midfied got tied up in knots, then Deering had to track back more + more, leaving Benson exposed and left to deal with the hoofs up to him - not pretty nor effective. The subs made the difference in the end (just!) - thought McG in particular has a good cameo and Harrison at last started to win the headers up front, which is not Benson's game to be fair. The best cross all night (why did take until the 90th min?) was finished off by Benson as I expected - give the man a decent cross (lke Harrod) and he will finish it. Chelt do need to work on their deliveries into the box and fom set-pieces - we just don't make enough of them as we should do.

A vital win nethertheless - back upto 3rd + closing in on Port Vale, who can't score for toffee at the mo. Yes, we've played at least 1 match more, but I'd rather have the points in the bag now rather than have to play catch-up - sure MY feels the same way. 2 wins on the spin then at home, which was required, 4 (or even 6?) points from the next 2 matches should put us in pole position for an auto promotion spot as we enter the final furlong - oh, hang on, wrong sport.”
