£1.3m help for power supply
THE firm that distributes power across Cheltenham is planning to pump £1.3 million into improving the town's electricity network.
Western Power has been forced to fend off criticism this week after a string of power cuts.
The company said the incidents – six in the last month – were caused by unrelated faults.
And it has emphasised its commitment to improving the town's electricity network in future by investing in the area.

“£1.3million? That's not very much. Especially when demand for electricity, as well as local generation (domestic solar, wind etc.) is likely to grow rapidy over the next few years. I think we are going to have to go the way of the Indians and Eastern Europeans, and start installing our own backup supplies.
It would be ironic if people have to start buying petrol-driven generators to charge their new "green" electric cars!”
