CANCER Research UK is £2,005 better off thanks a to fundraising event in memory of Richie Clapham.

The 31-year-old died from a brain tumour in July 2011, 10 years after he and his family left Woodmancote, near Bishop's Cleeve, to move to Auckland, New Zealand.

Friends from his time in Gloucestershire played a special rugby match at Cheltenham Saracens' ground and staged other activities, such as an auction, on Saturday.

Organiser Mark Sheen said: "The amount raised was absolutely fantastic."
