PERMISSION has been granted for a new £70,000 play area to be built in Oakley.

The Ridge school in Clyde Crescent applied to Cheltenham Borough Council for a multi-use games area.

The facility would include a penned-in football pitch, basketball nets and a tennis court for the school, which caters for youngsters with special behavioural needs.

In addition to encouraging a more active lifestyle for its pupils, it is also hoped it could be used by the wider community.
