A PUBLIC meeting is to be held in Stroud in support of a petition to try to stop the coalition government's planned badger cull.

Badger experts and animal welfare supporters are among those invited to the session at the Subscription Rooms at 7pm on August 20.

It has been organised by the town's Labour Party and former MP David Drew.

The petition will be available for people to sign beforehand both in the High Street on Saturday morning and at the Labour office in Lansdown.
