How do you rate the new iPhone 5?
GADGET lovers were up at the crack of dawn on Friday to get their hands on Apple's new iPhone 5 when the shops opened.
The first customer was IT engineer Mark Walby, 33, from the Forest of Dean, who camped outside from 5am. He said: "I just want the latest model. I've had all the other iPhones."

Software engineer Steve Coates, 48, travelled all the way from Tewkesbury and even took a day off work for the launch.
Electrician Andrew Jones, 23, from Maisemore, said: "It's simply beautiful. I can't wait to phone my brother from it and gloat."

“lolmyopinion - we are all here on earth for a short time - and will be gone sooner or later - it is for those who are to visit planet earth in the future we need to be concerned about. And nature will get rid of excess baggage one way or the other.”

“Bonkim2003 - If you don't like the way humanity is going and you are concerned about earths natural resources, how about you start the ball rolling and off yourself?”

“Chrisgump2011 - in those days the telephone was a functional item and if you didn't have one, you could drop in your neighbour's or a shop or a call box to make a call. You only made essential calls.
Today it is a toy/leisure item to while away your time - and some spend more on their mobile phones than on food. The real point I read in your comment is about today's values - those are increasingly questionable given that much of today's consumer demand is manufactured by smart business brains and once hooked - no getting away. If you think about it what do some find to talk to all and sundry or post on social websites unless they are totally inadequate to have normal social interactions. Hence a society in fast-track degeneration.”

“Each to his or her own I guess, but doesn't seem like real life to me.
As an old wind-passer, I think Phones have gone downhill every since the they removed the twisty wire and the winding handles, and bloated the numbers. In the 1980s my number was Wickwar 847.
Jumpers for goalposts ....”

“i don't see why anyone who went and bought the new iphone are being called 'dumbos' and 'posers'. Can't anyone go out and buy what they want these days without people ****ging them off for it?
I do not have the new Iphone, nor would i wait outside a shop for however many hour's but surely they shouldn't be slatted for choosing to?”

“leanneglos - I suppose you have a right to your view - these gadgets are getting to be like new car models every year to tap into your pocket - I have yet to see anyone setting out any real value of sitting in one's private hole and surfing the net or twitting in high speed broadband.
Much of today's consumer demand is created and Steve Jobs or Wozniak have done nicely, thank you. Burning candles at both ends on planet Earth running short of water, mineral, and energy resources, but populations exploding.”
