Gloucestershire's Chief Fire Officer Jon Hall said: "This is a chance to make your local community a safer place to live.

"It's an important job requiring great energy and dedication. But it's also a highly rewarding role working within a tight-knit team. Retained firefighters come from all sections of the community, so anyone who thinks they can do something extraordinary should step forward."

Recruitment nights are currently being held for the following stations:

Lydney - 3rd April, from 6.30pm until 9pm

Painswick - 2nd April, from 6.30pm until 9pm

Chipping Campden - 3rd April, from 6.30pm until 9pm

Stroud - 4th April, from 6.30pm until 9pm

Dursley - 8th April, from 6.30pm until 9pm

Nailsworth - 10th April, from 6.30pm until 9pm

Successful applicants will be given full training in attending emergencies and paid a monthly retainer fee, including additional pay for call-outs.
